Dr.Rottentanz : Although I find it extremely tempting to start a debate with you, over the many topics you've raised above, I think that all I need to say for now is simple. Spend more time around this community and things will start getting clearer.
"Quite often" is a phrase I would choose to start defending my position, however it's not "quite often" I should use, it's "Every single time!".
Every single time, a thread is started which aims, at least partly, to introduce new features to factions and their leaders/players, people, with no reason what so ever, begin pointing fingers and screaming their rights and the potential abuse.
What abuse? What misuse? Why shouldn't factions be awarded with an extra boost or their leaders given something from the community, for their dedication, support and RL sacrifice in order to make the free MMO, you and I, play a bit more enjoyable?
All of these questions don't seem to bother the "average Joe of Discovery", who loves screaming "Rights here and abuse there".
In past years, perhaps, now however, abuse and misuse of technology by factions is unheard of! Not only that it doesn't happen, but the leaders of those factions are among the best RP'ers in the Community and Server. If they don't deserve, if they ask, something special for their faction, who does?
Pointing fingers at people is easy and the ugly truth behind that finger pointing is easy to see. Non-faction players have more liberties, more freedoms and heck, even more basic rights here then faction ones do. Everyone, who for some reason decided that not being a member of faction suits him/her, has the right to do everything, to RP anything, to fly anywhere, to use every single ship (exceptions are obvious) in the mod and to interact with players, both Faction and Non-Faction ones at the same level and can expect to be treated equally.
I believe that Sindroms made the best point so far, Factions do have the ability to influence the way Disco RP resolves, something which really has no price. Dieter also fought for Factions Rights and managed to secure, a few of them. However, I'm still left with the feeling that players don't want Factions to exist and that's why they create these mock up excuses to deny them, or at least hinder greatly, any ideas connected with Factions and Additional Rights.
Get this and finally understand it - Faction Leaders are all responsible people, all of them have been around for enough time to know what to do, when to do it. Even if they do make a mistake, that is what the faction and it's members are for, to assist the leader and aid him if need be. I've been in many factions and still am a part of one of the largest ones, some of the really old ones and some which have only a couple of members. I've never met a faction leader who does what he wants, with his "buddies" and ignores the rest of the community.
Official Factions should have the ability, the right and the power to request something, which is considered needed, for their use, RP and story development.
