So here is a mechanic idea (well 2 actually) that might allow a little bit more laxness to the rules.

The first part involves rep adjustment for PvP destruction. I'm not sure how reputation is currently adjusted when you kill another player, I would assume it is small and based off of the IFF, if there is any at all. I believe it should be based off of the ID, and should carry a more significant rep adjustment, perhaps around 5x killing an NPC, or perhaps some other number, it would need to be balanced. The amount could also be different depending on the IF of the killer, but I wouldn't think that would be necessary.


Now the second part is a bit more controversial, but it would alter the mechanics of pirating to make it at least a little more in RP. Recently someone likened pirating here to being like a bank transfer, which I think is a fair analogy. So, I propose a different command then givecash to be used when giving someone money against your will. Let's call this command /looted (for lack of a better term).

The looted command would be used like givecash in that you type /looted <receivers name> <amount> except that it would also adjust the reputation of the receiver to be less friendly to the faction who's ID the command user carries. This amount could be a constant, it could be relative depending on the ID's, it could be relative depending on the amount, it could be relative depending on the value of the ship and cargo(so pirating a bigger ship or a ship with more expensive cargo will do more rep 'damage') or it could be some combination thereof. Now here's the important part, when the /looted command is used 'on' someone they would get the cash and they would get a server message explaining the amount, the rep adjustment and that they have the option of undoing it by typing, let's say, /unloot. /unloot will refund all the cash and undo any rep adjustment. Of course it will not be able to be used if receiver does not have the cash on them still (so there will be no cheating via trading or givecash). The command would also be limited to players that are near each other (of course).

The rules would also probably have to be adjusted to say that the person using the command can not be attacked because they used it instead of givecash.

I think that pretty much covers it. So, what does everyone think?
