The "ghost" of Fiona deLuna had just started to explain what assistance she required of Eris and Hais when the grey pearlescent fog surrounding them began to vibrate.

What in the greyfaced Hell is that??, EgrezyHais said as his dark aspect began to ripple slightly in tune with the vibrations.

We call it Thud, my Dearest, and I havent a clue.

Fiona had stopped speaking, and floated with her eyes closed. Her spiritual visage began to glow softly; and her features softened as if a great burden or tension had been released from her.

The vibrations in the ether increased, and were now accompanied by a musical chord of three tones, pure and melodic. Hais nether began to ripple more violently, and seemed to contract in on itself.

Fionas etheric body was now suffused with a brilliant white light, which pulsated and grew with the surrounding vibrations. Eris turned away from the radiance, and watched her husbands visage contract even more.

Those bastards! shouted EgrezyHais. This is not possible! The old mysteries are long dead! My powers cannot be

And, in an instant, Egrezys essence had compacted into a small dark sphere, and with an audible pop, it disappeared.

Eris snickered. Chuck you, Farley, and the four horses you rode in on! I suspect youll probably be back; but you wont be bothering this family again!"

Eris then turned to the visage of Fiona, whose growing pure incandescence had diffused throughout the grey fog, and forced it to subside, revealing vast endless vistas around them. Go, my child. Find your family. Be happy. Be free!

Fionas glowing essence had begun to expand outward. Ahhhhh. So this is how it feels, Fiona said in joyous ecstasy. I should have paid more attention to their blather. Thank you, my beloved friends, she projected outwards to whoever might be listening on the lower planes.

The glowing, expanding sphere that was Fiona projected to Eris. I wont need Your help now, Goddess. I now have the power to protect my grandfather myself. And, if I do need help, I believe I can find Jessica and Sylvia, wherever Hais has sent them.

Be proud of Your followers, Eris. And, be kind to them. All they do is out of love for You and the Chao. And I now see that this was done for me out of that same love. I may see you all again someday; but for now, goodbye.

Fionas spirit expanded further, until it seemed to light every corner of the Void; and then slowly and gently disappeared. Eris watched, with what passed for tears of joy coming from her eyes. Not only had the spirits of the deLunas been freed from her insane husband; but She was now feeling more like an actual Goddess than She had in millennia.

And all due to a Fisherman, an old Romantic, and a precocious Pooch! There may be hope for these cabbages yet! She laughed merrily as she snapped her fingers and disappeared into the Void herself.
