After being in a comatose stage for two years he departed Freeport 4, where he had been hospitalized, to head to the only place he can remember, home. On his way through a cluster of meteoroids, the trade lane he was docked with, disrupted. Three unknown ships hail him and tell him to come with them. Sensing the danger he tries to escape, but the other ships' technology is superior and his craft is soon almost destroyed. Thinking the end is near, he closes his eyes and says his last words. However a USI trade convoy comes into view and sees that he is in need of help. The convoy flew to his aid and fought away the assailants. After their hasty departure, he is taken aboard the USI craft to meet with the commanding officer. He thanks them for his life and as of that moment, joins the USI as a small way of repaying them.
