Chapter I: The collective human

Part 1: First human encounter

KhaNdrogsh arrived to Pennsylvania, the place where he was meant to start his journey. At first he felt strange. All this world was new for him. *** Light... (curious)... learn from... dark-beings... (?)... see... feel... ***- he thought. At first he couldnt decide where to go first, but he felt curious about a cloud near to a dark rock, because hed never seen something like that before, and his ships scanner couldnt recieve properly the signals from the cloud. So he turned towards the cloude and turned on his cruise engines. Then, he realized this place was really cold. He was used to very warm places, and his thermal sensors told him the cloud was even colder. *** Light... need... warmth... (nervous)...***- but despite that, he went ahead to the cloud. As he was getting closer to the cloud, his scanners started to recieve signals from the dark rock, the dark hives, and strange ships inside the cloud. *** Light... (curious)... want... see... dark-beings... learn... (?)... ***.

He got deeper inside the cloud, looking at everything around him. Then he saw them. The humans. The dark beings. He observed them, their curious behave. They were spitfiring the rocks around then, and tracktoring smaller rocks. *** Dark-beings... spitfire... rocks... (curious)... light... (?)... wonders... why... (?)...***. He approached them cautiously. Many of them simply ignored him, and continued their labors. One of them screamed What the hell is that... A NOMAD!. But one human saw him, but didnt escape or scream. His name was Laibach. He was with a friend, called Slinky, who wasnt very talkative. But Laibach was as curious as KhaNdrogsh.

Laibach: Hi there, lil fella!
KhaNdrogsh: *** Dark-being... talk... light... (curious)...***
Slinky: What is that thing? Should I attack it?
Laibach: Seems harmless... How can we help ya, friend? Its so little and cute.
KhaNdrogsh: *** Light... be... (curious)... learn... ***
Laibach: Are yah lost, lil friend?
KhaNdrogsh: *** No... (frustrated)... light... learn...(?)... be... (curious)...*** (He was wondering why humans didnt understand him, they were not collective, they couldnt comunicate with their thoughts, even when he could understand them.)
Laibach: Ah dun know where you come from friend. Can you show me?

KhaNdrogsh showed, with his light-song ability, the Shrine, and its surroundings.

Laibach: What a weird thing. Ahm sure I saw an strange place. Tell me, lil fella, is that where ya come from?
KhaNdrogsh: *** Yes... light-place... (excited)...*** [// I said light-place, I didnt remember it also meant where you can light a fire]
Laibach: Ah... thats where yah came from, and you are little between yours... Tell me, have you got some little friends there, little fella? Theres more like ya?
KhaNdrogsh: *** Light... be... (lonely)... need collective...***
Laibach: Collective... I wonder what ye means.
KhaNdrogsh: *** Light-beings... be... collective... (impulsive)... be... (?)... one... think... together...***
Laibach: Is that when you take things... When you try to get more things...
KhaNdrogsh: *** No... (frustrated)... that... be... collect... (anger)*** ***Light-minded... (frustrated)... cant... (?)... collective... dark-ones... (anger)...***
Laibach: e seems angry. Can yeh explain better that thing of collective?
Slinky: I dont understand at all...
KhaNdrogsh: *** Light-beings... think... as... (?)... one... no fight... (joy)... themselves...*** ***Dark-beings... spitfire... (?)... each others... be individual... so not... (?)... collective...***
Slinky: Huh, I think he means he is a loner.
Laibach: Hmm... Dar-minded....
KhaNdrogsh: *** Dark-minded... should... (curious)... be collective...***
Laibach: Do yah think tha dark minnet means us?
KhaNdrogsh: ***Yes...***
Laibach: So yah mean yeh are like one being, and we fight each others, because we have differences. But yah dun have differences, so think like a single mind?
KhaNdrogsh: *** Yes... (excited)...Light-being... (impressed)... dark-minded... (?)... knowledge...***
Laibach: So you are here to learn... Do you know where humans come from? Over a long period o time, different things grew bigger an stronger... An eventually there were humans. But some o them didnt like the other ones, so we fought, an some o us left the Earth an came here.
KhaNdrogsh: *** Darkness... Sirius... (?)... intruders...***
Laibach: Yes, this is Sirius. Did you an yer friends originally live here? Or did you come from elsewhere, too?
KhaNdrogsh: *** Sirius...(?)... Light-home... ***
Laibach: Hmm... jus tah make this easier, Imma call you Kenny.

KhaNdrogsh wanted to learn more from this human. He knew a lot about his race, and also, he could teach the human. It would be a knowledge transfer. But the human didnt understand him very well. If he were collective... That was it!

Part 2: Kennys journey with the human

KhaNdrgosh saw many humans inside the Shrine, and they were able to communicate very well with him, though he was not allowed to make eye contact with them. Maybe if he would lead him to the Shrine...

KhaNdrogsh: *** Light-place...(?)... dark-minded...(?) get there... ***
Laibach: I dont understand, whadaya want, Kenny?
KhaNdrogsh: *** Follow... light... (excited)...***
Laibach: Yare going to show us something?
KhaNdrogsh: *** Yes... light-home... follow... (?)...***
Slinky: Light-home... dont you mean...
Laibach: You are going to take us to the place you showed us?
KhaNdrogsh: *** Yes... (excited)... but... be... (?)... long trip... (sad)... ***
Laibach: I follow you, Kenny.
Slinky: Im going with you.

KhaNdrogsh took them to the California light street.

Laibach: Tha is... California... isnt it?
Slinky: Yeah, looks like California.
KhaNdrogsh: *** Yes... be... (?)... dark-home... see... human dark-rocks... dark-hives***
Laibach: Dark-home, dark-rocks, dark-hives... I dont know what does e mean... Dark-home, e means California System. Hives could be the planets... and dark-rocks the asteroids... If were tha darkuns, our homes must be tha dar hives.
KhaNdrogsh: *** Almost... (impacient)... dark-hives... be... (?)... metal skinned and spitfire... Dark rocks... be.. colourful... blue/green...***
Laibach: *snaps fingers* Ah gottit! Our bases are tha darives cos theyre made o metal an got guns on em. Bases are made to prepare fer war, spittin fire from tha guns.
KhaNdrogsh: *** Yes... (happy).. ***
Slinky: *claps*

KhaNdrogsh took them to the Magellan Jump Gate. In the way, Laibach was teaching his new friend Kenny, about human things, human ships, etc. Also it was becoming easier for him to understand Kenny.

They reached Magellan, and turned left, to the Kansaslight street. As soon as they got to Magellan, there were Outcasts passing by. He didnt know Outcasts, but their smell was familiar.

KhaNdrogsh: *** Cardamine... smell... humans...***
Laibach: Cardamine? Yah mean them Outcasts?
KhaNdrogsh: ***Light-hault***
Laibach: He can smells tha cardamine on em in space. Ow about that, eh? Mazin

They passed through the Magellan ice field. It was Slinkys first time here.

Slinky: Oh god... rocks...
KhaNdrogsh: *** (joy)... feel... near...***
Laibach: This is increddible, it is. Aye cant imagine mah sisters face when ah tell her aye traveled with a nomad. She went to the university to study aliens in a laboratory, and ahm with one alive, and talkin with. Shell be so jealous.

As they got further onto their travel, Kha felt the bond with the human was getting stronger. The human was able to understand him better, and vice versa. But it was not strong enough. Only when they arrive to the Shrine it would get stronger.

Finally, they reached the jump hole to Kansas, that strange human system that once seemed to be home of nomads, due to the jump gate located within the Tuttle Creek nebula.

KhaNdrogsh: *** (impacient) Light gate distant... human distance 120k...***
Laibach: Dun worry... Well soon arrive, it seems.
Slinky: That purple cloud... Its quite strange, dont you think?
Laibach: Ah wonder what is it.
KhaNdrogsh: *** We... destination/objective be inside purple/red coloured cloud ***

While they were getting to their destination, Laibach was very impressed with the landscape, and very curious about his surroundings. *** Like ours *** he thought.

They got deep inside the cloud. Both humans were admiring the colours, and the asteroids while passing. Then, Kha suddenly stopped.

Laibach: What happens?
KhaNdrogsh: *** Look/see foward... Dark being remains... ***

They saw it. A wreck. The wreckage of a lane hacker.

Laibach: Ah wonder what happened to him.
Slinky: Im scanning it. It seems he received an unknown signal, and ran out of fuel while trying to reach it.
KhaNdrogsh: *** Follow lightbeing... Objective/destination not reached...***

Kha turned right to the tip of the wreck ship, and went that direction.

Laibach: Ahm receiving an unknown signal. It seems were near from wherever Kennys takin us.
KhaNdrogsh: *** (exited) Yes... distance short... ***

They reached an strange triangle-shaped object. A nomad jump gate.

Laibach: Oh my... that thing is huge! Ahm impressed now. Are ye, Slinky?
Slinky: I think I will stay outside if you dont mind.
KhaNdrogsh: *** warn/advice human... hazard/damage deadly...***
Laibach: Ah think ah will survive, dun worry Kenny. Well, here we go.

They docked with the jump gate. The lightpath was different than the usual ones. It seemed it went faster, and led to a farther region.

They arived, and what Laibach saw had no comparation with anything he had seen. Nothing there was charted, and he doubted if they were normal planets or no. The sun seemed to be composed of something strange, but the scanners didnt recognize it as a sun, in fact, it was invisible for them. But the strangest thing there was the nebula. Nothing else he had seen compared to it, and also was hard to describe. A purple cloud, which strange color fadings along it, with a rock field inside, that was how Laibach tried to describe it later to his friends.

KhaNdrogsh: *** Human... (impressed)... beauty/singularity ours homeland..?.. ***
Laibach: Yes... Its so... so... magnific. Ah... never seen somethin like... this, before... Yere mazin, Kenny.

Deep inside the cloud, the brightest place, the Shrine, was awaiting the arrival of them, both human and nomad.

KhaNdrogsh: *** Enter light home (impatient)... Illumination awaits... ***
Laibach: Ok.

Both ships passed through the organic barrier of the Shrine, to dock with it. Laibach went to the place where humans use to meet in the Shrine, and Kha slid to the light chambers, where he used to rest before the awakening.
Laibach went to the bar. He was impressed to see so many humans there. But he was more impressed to see an Outcast and a Corsair talking together. He was told many stories by the residents of the Shrine, and what they had in common, is that they all said this was the most peaceful place in the universe. Laibach had to agree with them, he felt an enormous peace while inside the Shrine, combined with the constant cardamine smoke from the ventilation system.

They were ready to leave. The organic barriers opened to let Laibach pass, while KhaNdrogsh passed through the walls like if they werent there.
