The only thing I can hope for is this:
Sensefull pirates who realize that
1. dont demand more then the cargo is worth or will end up being.
2. dont just camp gates to kill someone (it happens more then you think and not only that
3. realize that I often bank my money and that I am not likely to have millions upon millions in that cahracter at that time. (icly I have the RP reasons for that, oocly they do not care, most pirates you will find do not want the roleplay, just the credits)
edit: I dont care about the capitals flying everywhere I just hope god has mercy on our military / police forces.
but that does bring up an interesting point. Wasn't there a patch to stop people flying capitals so often? because everyone decided to buy one? Yeah.....
Icly a GC or a Dragon have all the RP necessitys to just say I don't like you samura scum and then to fire
1. The cargo that traders carry on most good routes provide a revenue of about 12 million credits for a profit of anywhere between 7-10 million credits. Five is a bit high, but you can't say traders aren't greedy either. An ore hauler full of Niobium Ore, that made me wear him down in my Eagle while I was getting shot by a Kusari Battlecruiser said to me "Four million or nothing". My original demand was 5 million, which went up to 10 as he ran/I got shot. I don't think you'll find many pirates who will barter and bargain after you've tried your best to make their lives hard - so you can guess that I killed him with absolutely no regrets.
2. People camp wherever they want. You should use the jump holes honestly, if there's somebody you see on the player list that you think might be a pirate, play it safe. Maybe that's metagaming (I dont believe it is but its debatable), but you can be very sure that they're keeping an eye on you using that same list.
3. If you bank your money instead of keeping some on you to pay the pirate, that's your problem and not mine or any other pirates'. I don't care that you dont have credits, you better set a drawcash code on your bank if you don't want to die.
And then, the main problem with RPing as a pirate is that almost every time I've tried, a convenient response by the police/military has arrived after a small delay. Most pirates assume that you're talking to the local law while they're trying to pirate you, so they try and get the credits out of you quickly. If you don't cough them up, it's better for them to kill you.
For the rest of you talking about introducing other exceptions: If this were to happen, might as well not have changed anything in the first place.
