when presented here - its of course everyones right to post their impression. - when there is a navy ship presented, its not only the navy who has a say, when a zoner ship is presented, its only zoners that may comment. - when its a coalition ship presented, its not only the coalition who has a right to comment.
they might have a greater right to decide wether they like them or not - but still the whole community can praise or condemn them all they like.
this is mostly a feedback for the modellers here. - if i was making a ship - and the faction i made them for said "jolly good, we take them" - but the whole community that is not in the faction said "damn, these are butt ugly" - i d think again, no matter what before submitting. - and just for the record - the critizism written down here was all down to the point, no trolling, no pointless "me no likey".
the current models are bad in pvp ( and they are said to have bugs, too ) - and thats based on the coalition players experience, so a replace appears to be necessary one way or another - these models will be easier to balance - cause they re all dagger like - or at least as flat as a dagger. - the skinning ( in the rendered images ) looks a little better than the CMP images, but still not convincingly good ( in my opinion - but thats a matter of taste )
however - it is true, its the coalition that lives with those models - other players will usually only see a grey blob that hardly shows much of its shape in pvp. - but the critizism stands - these are a lot more boring than the ones we have. ( mind you, boring not being a quality measure here - but rather a characteristic )
but then - why must military gear need to look exciting anyway.
edit:
just a bit on-the-spot critizism
- the cockpit sections are good. they look heavy, armoured and kind of fierce - but they are at the same time a step backwards in terms of detail. - they are solid canopies like the ones legenation used - and while it is true that no one actually sees the difference in space - its still a quality issue. ( however, its doubtful if modelling such cockpits with solid frames and transparent glass elements is too complicated )
- the wings and nose remind me a little too much on the 21th century jets - which is the intention i guess. if anyone knows the game "crimson skies" - thats what it reminds me on - .... *retro futuristic planes from the 1960s or so" - planes people back then thought looked futuristic, but now that it IS the future, they kinda look old.
- i am greatly missing vertical elements. - they re all flat as a dagger - while ships like sabre or eagle build up verticle stuff when they get heavier - might be a balance issue.
well, thats about that - not much more to say about them as there s not much more detail on them to comment on.
