A young woman, appearing no more than twenty years of age and clad in a school uniform slipped quietly through the doors of the recruitment office in the main settlement on planet Volgograd. Brushing snow from her hair and shoulders, she approached the main desk which was being manned by a rather young and unimportant looking soldier, one she assumed to be a clerk as opposed to an actual recruitment officer. Nonetheless he was a soldier and she was not, so she would respect him. Clearing her throat, she held out a data-pad to the young soldier who looked up at her, speaking before she had the chance to do so.
"Da...Tovarisch, what can I do for you, and what is that?"
The soldier gestured toward the data-pad in the woman's hand.
"Oh...eheh..."
The woman paused for a moment before regaining her composure.
"That is a data-pad, complete with all of my personal information...my name is Karina Sokolov and I'm a student at the nearby university...but I believe I would be of better use to our cause and our people within the ranks of our glorious military...so here I am, hoping to be accepted for enlistment...if you'll just read over the data-pad...everything is there.."
The young soldier simply nodded to her and gestured to a row of seats nearby.
"I will take a look at this, and pass it on to the appropriate person if it is acceptable, stick around just in case, da Tovarisch?"
Karina simply nodded to him and headed for the row of chairs, sitting and waiting quietly, glad in any event to be out of the cold night. The soldier then began to read over her datapad, seemingly annoyed at having to read yet another recruit applicant info-sheet at such a late hour.
