The whole issue of 'unworthiness' is simply a matter of opinion & I can't help but scoff at it

Personally, I believe that any faction that can maintain official status for one year is worthy of a shipline

Sometimes it's difficult being a Gaian, because it's hard for us to play 3 dimensional characters in a one dimensional faction...yet in spite of that limitation we (NLH) been able to maintain official status for about 3 years now (even though at some points in our history it was only by the skin of our teeth) by maintaining a base of players in the double digits that pretty much remains constant. When we loose a player, we gain a player.

For my part, I spend most of my time developing Gaian culture & trying to convey that sense of history as best I can on the server & being the best Gaian Cheerleader I can when RL isn't in the way.
