Pirates vs RP?

About this, I want to ask if this behavior is correctly regarding rules/RP:

1. Pirate shouting HALT
2. Me, a trader, first, I try to use cruise to escape
3. He CD's me
4. From this point forward, I do RP, see if I can meet his requirement. Follow the hints from forum etc.

Is blamable the fact that I first try to run and if I ain't able, RP accordingly? I think that Halt is not enough to stop and pay. PROVE that you deserve my money.
Am I wrong? To be clear, if I will be CD successful, OK, party can begun, pay the pirate....maybe not the sum he request if that is astronomical.

You are indeed right but you miss the point where the pirate must type something when you spamm cruise button in order to run. Thats why setmsgs are very useful. When you are CDed then the RP can begin.
