People can't hide behind, "Because the admins allow this" when they're blatantly attacking/angering a faction. That's your choice. So you live with the consequences.

I heard FR5 is considered a proper inRP-response these days. And it would be exactly what you could do IF you ever found someone attacking your guys. Which is unlikely to happen anyways unless there's a pretty large bounty on one of your guys. Also, wouldn't it make more sense to forget about such an incident with a proper financial transaction?

I'm not so sure that the King wouldn't be sponsoring the UC: how perfect to have a squad of dirty-handed hitmen for 'wetwork'? they rely on his patronage for their survival, and so are intensely loyal.... very useful for a king who rules over a corrupt system with an iron fist.

I think the King itself is a little bit much. Maybe someone else should start offering some work to the gallic bounty hunters first instead of just passing by and begging for money every now and then. Just like "We are too lazy to do it ourselves, you do it and we wont even imprison you for it"

As for the UC. They're not exactly 100% loyal to the crown. Differs per "faction/family" or individual. Certain groups that have proved themselves to be 100% loyal to the crown might be hired.

Actually the only ones they should be 100% loyal to is to themselves. The UC can make money out of that civil war by supplying the Maquis (and to some extend the Council), yet they would need to be able to pick up the needed cargo on loyal planets first. Hence they should be somewhere in between both sides yet avoid to get stuck between the frontiers.
