Gaians are not 'Bretonian' anymore

well - you already know my reasoning - especially on the design part of gaian gear.


bretonian ships are made by bretonian companies at bretonian shipyards. - these companies come up with a specific design that acts several ways - cause they found it to be efficient and suited for the roles the ships need to play - and so they can be distinguished from other ships ( like flags in ancient battles or uniforms - before soldiers tried to hide behind camo suits )

the "fish" design is a trademark of these companies - they combine what the police and army needs - and their hull structure speaks of what can be maintained at their facilities. - bretonian ships show nailed down heavy armour plates - like knights armour.

now - would gaians use the same design?

i don t think so - cause firstly - they don t work at those shipyards, nor have to agree with the same design. until now - they used the liberty based eagle design - which is like the old VW beetle - ( can be maintained everywhere )


about new designs. - regarding to the lore gaians would not expect much help from their bretonian roots, even if they sometimes recruit engeneers - they lack the facilities to really develope a ship. - thats where the closest "ally" steps in - which would be the corsairs actually ..... but since the corsairs are like too far away - and many gaians would probably not even know where crete is - kusari or the FA and the FAs connections do the job.

kusari is one big pot of factions - which is not too easy for a foreigner to understand. - criminals and lawfuls are not as easily distinguishable like in liberty. - but the point is .... kusari has a great interest in bretonia... and the kusari / bretonian war has raged for quite some time now - without significant results ( up to recently ).

so like the bretonians deployed a faction like the QCP to weaken the enemy lines from within - kusari has extended a hand to the gaians to do practicly the same. - the difference is ... QCP are foreign, gaians are native - the result is meant to be similar though.

QCP is under direct control of the bret goverment - and so they enjoy the selection of bretonian gear. gaians are of course not under control of anyone - so they don t use kusari gear - BUT ... and thats the point of it...

kusari assisted them in building their own gunboat - based on the kusari GB.

it is much larger - it is slower, has a less efficient energy core and no military weapons ( no front gun ). - but for the gaians, its a perfect tool to disrupt inner-bretonian trade.

now - the frame and the internals are kusari based.... but there is the problem with maintaining - so the hull is made by bretonian parts - rounded a little and basicly based on the "nailed down armour plates" and not the modular based armour plate puzzle of kusari ships.



that is why the gunboat has its roots in kusari - shows more kusari design than bretonian design. - since i came up with that concept when making the GB - it makes perfect sense to me - and i still haven t read a single argument that would make me think that gaians should rather employ bretonian fish designs over kusari boat designs.
