Thinking some about what makes everybody favor the VHF over HF and LF, and one of the obvious things is the VHF powercore. Most VHF ships can fire their main weapon group forever and not run out of power* (sometimes it needs tweaking but it is common enough). However the smaller ships can't do this, and they all run out of power very quickly (even a HF with just a 4x class 9 turret group will run dry quickly). Question is, should they have the same relative power as the VHF, so that they are able to maintain damage output for the same amount of time. Would it make the ships more attractive? Would it make them overpowered?

What I'm actually looking at is that a big part of the original freelancer design seems to have ships used for status rather than classes, so the lower ships are really packaged as noob ships rather than being separate classes. This is really irritating since the rest of the ship classes in disco are setup as rock-paper-scissors, but the fighter class is still about status. This has to be broken for the RPS model to work well in the fighter classes. Power management seems to be one way to do that.

*Actually I can't think of any other classes that run out of power. Gunboats up can all fire an all-basics loadout simultaneously
