This is discovery; if another mod has it. We can't.

Nobody's even made an official statement equating to what you've asserted there. I haven't been here very long and I've seen a lot of posts like these with 0 evidence to back it up. I'm certain there are balance and rule problems with player docking on carriers.

instead of +1 pessimism...Here's an idea instead which might be completely silly or actually feasible:

NPC bays - a hardpoint which deploys top-notch NPC fighters at a very low rate. While piloting the carrier, you activate the "deployment bay" hardpoints to spawn a Navy NPC in a Guardian, or an equivalent. When there are no hostiles, these custom NPC templates will return to your ship and "dock," or disappear. The deployment bay hardpoint would take a small amount of energy to use and I restate that the "refire" rate would be very low to prevent spamming/lag. However, I think this is a nice way to employ carriers.

The questions I have regarding that line of thought include whether these NPCs would carry regens, pilots, etc.. Maybe even mount some armor upgrades on them to have them survive longer.

In any case the mounted "weapon" would most likely be called "Liberty Navy Guardian Bay" or "LSF Avenger Bay" or something like that.
