To many promises made,and broken.

First of all... "Too many".

Second, what promises? You guys play for free. You don't have to pay a single copper penny. The mod is made and the server is run by people who don't get anything from it but the game itself. Lets imagine a dev who's made this for free and released it for free getting told that his work has achieved nothing, and the people who choose to play the game for free, think he has broken promises he made to them. As a result I'd imagine it becomes very easy to resent the people who play the game, and the game itself, and simply stop doing anything. I don't see anyone having made promised which has since been broken.

Nobody walked over to you and knealt down before you, saying "Oh great and mighty Ryoken, we promise you six space dolphins backflipping past Planet Curacao, whistling the Canadian national anthem."

Nobody promised you anything. You are a consumer of a free product. Take it or leave it.
