On Terrorism

I find I must speak on the issue of terrorism. And not the 800 year-old attacks that I am accused of being a part of. Because, while I am sure that I am getting older, I am hardly that old.

A political movement has a fundamental truth:

"Not instead of the masses, but together with them. Terrorism is an absolute form of struggle that will not subjugate itself to the will of the people. This is unacceptable in the modern age.

Engendered by the absence of a true revolution, regenerated later by a lack of confidence in the people around them, terrorism can maintain itself only by exploiting the weakness and disorganization, minimizing their conquests, and exaggerating their defeats.

The pistols of individual heroes instead of the peoples cudgels and pitchforks; bombs instead of barricades that is the real formula of terrorism.

For too long we and poets of all centuries have composed more than a few hymns in honour of the liberating dagger.

No, the time for Terrorism is behind all of us. Now it is a silent revolution, a terrible silence that greets the threats of our enemies. We do not need terrorists to strike from the shadows, the people have awoken to face the threat.

They will speak, and soon, in a single and resounding voice that will echo around Sirius. And no bombs, and no guns will drown it out.

They will cry "We are Free!"
