Well, at my age pretty much most of who I am had settled in before I came to this server. But I was effected by the community nonetheless. I believe it's the sheer diversity of people I've gotten to know over the past couple years here on Disco. I am Canadian and seeing multicultural diversity is not new to me but for the most part that is just me walking down the street or going to the store. Interaction is minimal and fastidious as I go about my errands. Here on Disco interactions are more personal, longer lasting and in many cases on a regular basis. This influx of encounters from a variety of people from such diverse backgrounds has vastly increased my social development on an almost worldly scale and it has resulted in a much more open mind that is still filling in with so much information from around the world. All this by simply paying attention.
