Well my friend,

Look around in RL. How many thugs do you know who are multimillionaires?
Rogues are supposed to be strapped for cash. If you become an evil mastermind then you make money aka buy a trader and act as a trader but secretly fund you evil pirates to bring down the corporate machine.

Missions pay decent enough and even in RL trading is the way to make uber money.
