Instead of modelling ones views on piracy out of 16th century pirates, why not model the view on 21st century pirates? This is supposedly a future space game, afterall...

They are not limited. They like to label actions unpleasant for them as ooRP or lacking RP to push their own agenda. (In this case a fault assesment that abandoning credit piracy will bring more money into trader's pocket)

Examples: Mercs/bounty hunters shooting people.
Pirates pirating people.
Traders not paying pirates.

Those are the most attacked roleplay acts.
