Though I don't fully understand the events that led up to this: why FP9 was bombed, the TAZ hostilities, BHG hostilities and now potentially DHC hostilities (regarding which it'd probably be wise in a business sense to accept their demands) taking the Zoner RP in a new direction is admirable. I did worry before as to where the large difference between OSI and ZTC was, and now there is a clear distinction. I think in some ways this relates back to Vanilla, with a more 'fend for yourself' attitude.
Congratulations on not understanding the hostility. It means we are in the same boat.
' Wrote:I still feel that Omicroners are failing to create a neutral stance, but are strongly biased towards Order, to the point of an open alliance. All nice and dandy, but consider where you are, with Corsairs, Outcast, and BHG (and of course Order) all at your doorstep... An open alliance with enemies of either of these factions is just going to create headaches and battle for you. I think Freeport 5 has the right idea in banishing all non-snub/non-transport vessels from docking there, but otherwise rolling out the red carpet to anyone. That kind of neutrality, with equal rules for all, is the kind that Zoners traditionally survived, and thrived on.
The Jinkusu was a misstake. Zoners are not a warring people.
Our neutrality is there and we are the only Zoner faction not to show any signs of an alliance with The Order. (Our official reputation with them is neutral.)
Good for you on that idea. Freeport 5 is Freeport 5. Glad to hear.
The Jinkusu was not a mistake, and it is a defensive measure in most cases.
Glad we sorted that out.
' Wrote:Their actions could have repercussions on other Zoners, but with this new mentality of 'we are not all one' and fragmented, compartmentalised Zoners, would they actually care? Are problems you've caused for other Zoners your problem? Is others holding your Zoner brethren in other sectors 'hostage' a realistic threat? Another example of this could include the sabotage of Freeport 9 I suppose. That could be constituted as a major problem by the residents that you caused.
This is the part I find most interesting. From what I've seen from the Omicroners, the staple insult towards the other two factions is to call them traitors. They also seem to represent the militant core of the Zoners. However, the Omicroners stand a good chance of rendering themselves pariahs by other Zoners too for the sheer amount of grief they've caused.
Bear in mind, this isn't a criticism on your roleplay; far from it, I love the afore mentioned situations. A great way to fend off stagnation is to stir things up, which you've all been doing admirably. This post is more a query into the mindset of your characters and the motivations behind your actions, based off my own observations.
Zoners were somewhat one. Now that is no longer. Freeport 9 will eventually fall under our jurisdiction. The people there are not going to keep up their super isolationist "goverment" for long.
Staple insult? More like calling it how it was. This is of course, in-RP. I just had enough of Arashi's blame game on Skype. We are not the militant core. We are the isolationist one. People just want to fight us. We cannot be called militant for defending our bases. Now, if we were raiding Omega 56 I could accept this commentary, but no, we are not and I cannot. (Also, Freeport 9 residents seem to think of OSI- and [TAZ] as cowards, or something along those lines too.)
Yes, well, if they are not in the Omicrons or Omegas then they are efficiently house sell-outs. But, I digress. I wonder who is the outcast of the Zoner way then? Also, grief? Please clarify.
Right, "a query into the mindset of your characters and the motivations behind your actions".
