' Wrote:Now I am going to respond. Both as a former Corsair leader, a long time disco player, and for a time, one of the most notorious pirates on the server (Oh those were the days.)
First, You cant really expect the Corsairs to be nice to you folk right now, especially not the Omicronies. They are going to hit you and they are going to hit you hard, and talk of coming back to pay later is just ridiculous. Second, and this is one of my big pet peeves,
This really pisses me off. You try to use a non-existent rule to smear the name of a faction, and I think its out of line. No where in the rules does it say that someone must give an engagement notice, not once. It does say you must rp before an engagement, and as is clear from the screen shots you posted, that standard was met, not only in a minimal way. This kind of comment really makes me sick, you sit there and lecture someone on the rules, tell them that they were on the borderline of breaking a rule, put that in their feedback thread for everyone to see, yet the rule you are accusing them of breaking does not exist. I would think a player who calls on the rules as often as you would have a better knowledge of them... or you are knowingly trying to make them look bad, but I will assume the former on that one.
That is the right of every pirate on the server. It's one of the foundations of good pirate rp. You lure in the sucker and then punch up the price when they cant get away. Even better when they are from a group that has been involved in a conflict with you for several weeks. They dont want to pay up quick, you bet that pirate is going to send a message to all your buddies by taking you out. Pirates are tricky and deceptive, and it seems from your complaints that they did exactly what they were supposed to. Oh, as to "Good rpers dont care about credits" thats bull, good rpers care about what their characters care about, if their character cares about credits, as pirates do, then you better damn well believe their rp should include caring about credits. So yes, good rpers care about credits. Its people who dont rp pirates so well who dont care about credits.
You seem to have a really spotty memory. I find it funny when people refer to people of the past with this sort of reverence and completely forget the massive forum whinging of when it took place. I was there, I remember all the sanction reports and the rule lawyers and the angry Zoners, not one of them wanted to complement the OPG on their rp. It wasn't until people realized that the OPG didn't care about that, that people even started to consider them as rpers. For so long, OPG was undeservingly referred to as lolwuts, but now we can point to them as a shining example...when we can use that to try and make a point to put someone else down. Aside from that, groups are different people are different and groups rp change over time, as we can clearly see from the rp of so many factions here in disco. (FARMERS IN LEEDS!!!!!!!) This suggestion that there is a way to rp something is, sadly below your grade level. You can do better. And that's all I'm going to say.
Since we are being honest, 10 million credits or die?
Oh yes, and the [OPG] were quite horrid, especially to independents they "had" to "pirate".
Also, people confuse the need for "written RP beforehand" with "engagement notice". Slight difference, but eh.
In short, BlueSpawn should not complain.
The reason being is not so much his point is invalid, as, this is the Sails|, and you should know exactly what to expect out of them both in an RP and OoRP perspective.
Feel free to request that we go back to politically correct statement's where we dance around the issue, if you want.
