' Wrote:Well it is your job as a Faction Leader to set an example of attitude and activity. Dusty once said that a Faction is no better than its faction leader. If the Faction Leader is active, then in most cases the Faction members are as well. If the Faction Leader has an negative attitude, then in most cases the Faction members have as well.
There was a time when the RFP had twenty active members. But as time went by activity decreased, members left or disappeared, and I came to a realisation: the police factions are utterly useless. They just, as Dusty has said, are military factions shadowing military factions. So I currently believe that if police factions are going to stay in their current form, they should be removed entirely. The fact that they are in space makes no sense anyway. They should be on planets and stations, not in space. Just a RP group really, that doesn't exist in space.
So my point is this: try leading a faction you believe should not even exist, and should be dissolved, and you soon lose the spirit for it.

Don't fall into the trap of being forced into smaller and smaller ships for the sake of massaging someone elses sense of RP. Before long you might find yourself flying in nothing bigger then a startracker if you let others have their way.
Oh believe me, we didn't. Mjolnirs are what we mostly used, although sometimes I encouraged the use of Phantoms. Which resulted in our untimely deaths.
Quote:Also, Col.Sheppard/Tomtomrawr, listen to what others are saying about leadership. It's up to you to keep a group motivated and alive. To look for things to do and engage in group activities when possible. Sometimes in "dry" periods such activities need to be almost always contrived ahead of time between two faction leader (lord knows I've had to do this through .85). You should know this by now, I've seen you begin many many factions in the 2.5 years I've been here on Disco. Stick it out for the long haul for once, if your always eager to create a faction then try sticking with a faction long enough to realize that the creation period never ends.
I agree, but again, I do not believe the police factions should even exist, so it's hard to continue to keep one alive. And I've been in it for the long haul. I took over from Monk with Arkantos when Monk was asking for a new leader God-knows how long ago, left, then returned last January. Ten months was a long haul for me.

I love it. I love it even more then removing the police entirely, although I still do not see the sense of having the police in space. I would fully support that because it puts sense into the shamble which is our current system.

Its sad to see the RFP going, but I know your situation so this is most likely the best decision you could make Tom...
Thank you Jansen.
*Whispers: You were always my favourite.:P*

On the note of military/police factions and IDs.... They are redundant. There isn't much I can do ID wise to distinguish them that doesn't involve slapping bad news restrictions on one or the either.
Remember the absurd block on navy ships scanning for contraband? It was a joke.
The best I can do, and have done, is lift the restrictions on cops to being bound to "house". For all intents and purposes there is little to distinguish police and navy IDs from one another... Which isn't altogether appreciable.
But so far as tangible hand outs go... Yeh. You're essentially trying to start a military faction in the shadow of a military faction. All you have to go on after that is personality and drive. Which, under the best of circumstances, isn't the strongest carrot in the market.
I agree. Anything that is done will be restricting the military, because they do everything already. Them sitting by while Junkers carrying slaves fly by waving at them isn't exactly good role-play.
Quote:That being said I'll lead the RFP. Just sign the faction over to my name.
I'll be the only one in it and I wont even make a char, but until we tick someone off and draw the admin(s?) attention it'll exist forever regardless.
Heh, seems like something you'd do. May as well. In fact, there are a few people who still want to continue with the RFP, so who knows, you may be able to fix it.
' Wrote:It really is a shame to see it go, the RFP was the first and only police faction I had taken part in and I just really regret not being as active as I could have been with it (schoolwork bah). I am sure Dusty can do it justice, perhaps if I have time I will get my RFP character remade and start up patrols again.
I am sure we can do something with the group, I doubt it will be worth scrapping so swiftly. However I do understand and respect the position you are comming from
Hey, haven't seen you in a long time. I was hoping you'd answer the roll call I put out in January but you didn't, which was a shame.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.
