Technically it's not very important whether a new version was released or not. Although it may affect the judgement of which mods get into the Top-100 and which do not. The fact that we were in Top-100 already can have no lesser impact if they'll have to choose between us and new mods that weren't promoted earlier.

It's of course pure speculation, cause according to the event rules, only the number of votes is important.
