Originally they were a response to what was going to be yet another FP9 gangrape - it ended up turning on the Corsairs which I found rather poetic. Later on it decimated the bored Legates/Osiris cruising around anywhere south of Gamma where they would have exactly no resistance. Now they only cruise around at 3 am when all Hessians are asleep, and we actually see Corsairs in fighters and bombers more often now that their main enemy has a way to deal with capship swarm without having to outnumber them 2:1.
