1 mill isnt enough to keep ships in the air. piracy doesnt make anyone rich; sure you can have good days, but then you have bad days, when 445224395723849562894765 mercs come sweeping down on you. Atm, this clan is haemorrhaging money hand over fist, and if i get a day to play, i have to spend half of it powertrading to support an unhealthy amount of nuc mines. its a wonder that dublin doesnt glow in the dark the number these boys can get through.
the role of the Garda is merely a caretaker. I'm trying to hold dublin together, so that mollies can pirate, corsairs can raid, img can mine and BMM can be told gtfo (im joking!). Im trying to return dublin back to disco, to re-establish RP there.
Before the cease fire, I had lawful Bret chars, and i'd get my ass handed to me by a molly char in PVP. and they'd stalk off to dublin, RPing all the way. The cease fire means that the raison d'etre of the faction died, and dragged activity into the grave.
This opened up the system to anarchy, which means that IMG capitals, BAF capitals, corsair capitals started treating it as their sandbox, and it became a bloody dangerous place to be.
At the moment, all im trying to do is get miners used to the idea that mining in dublin will cost a mill to keep the mollies sweet. If i can get it to be established practice, then I will have a powerbase to work from, and then we can see about crashing the Essex into the asteroid field around Graves, and moving the Molly destroyer somewheres around dublin, perhaps off the plane a bit to avoid NPC patrols - we dont want peeps picking up spare cruiser captains with out any effort at all.
What I dont want to do is ruin your fun. Here you can see that I defended your char to the hilt, and would do so again. The garda - and you've flown with my char - are more than willing to assist in the collection of taxes and fees. if you could make it clear to the miner that the amount charged = tax + work visa, and then sling the Garda the mill, that'd be kewl.
If the Garda become the numero uno miner protector faction, then
1. it means that there is no room for indy molly piracy any more.
2. the non-molly pirates will just line up to gank the garda, and then the faction will die.
the solution is simples: Visas are not 'pirate protection payments'; you can pay a defender of dublin for that. now, some people might call a defender of dublin a pirate, but that name calling is merely gratuitous verbal abuse from propagandists.
tl:dr
the Garda should stick to their knitting, and so you can stick to yours. they wont stop you pirating, if you want to group with them to collect fees at the same time, thats cool, and they'll lend a hand to evict undesirables. They answer directly to Molly Council Players, like Linkus' or Stoats' chars. but outside of that, this is a new area of RP, puhlice in dubbie? huh? basically, ive not written the rule book here, so whatever system works is obviously the one i intended!
