arvg, there is a value you missed!
The new SCRA cruiser (forward-firing only) guns can have a high projectile speed!

I developed a kind of RL laser beam for my LAN-discovery server (just me and my brother) and I have to say, it was quite a fun to fly the Storm gunboat and shoot my new gun (which was not written to be a superweapon, but a single - due to an extreme fast refire rate - high energy beam with a 2k range, and damage rates like 1 to 2,5) ... and it's always hard to aim with that especially if the weapon is not exactly in the center of your screen (or cockpit view; I used the CD slot to mount this beam weapon) so you cannot expect to hit a fighter or anything NOT capital or static with your first shots!

This would also be more SCRA intro-cruiser-like ... faster projectile, higher refire rate but lower damage per "bullet". And because there seem to be more than just one of them, it can be quite devastating using them against capital ships!
