I like the idea of having to choose between armor or shield upgrades. It would definitely add the potential for all kinds of fun situations.

The idea of new mountable items for power ectera... No go. I do not think that is a good idea at all. The ships were made the way they are for a reason. Balance. I seriously don't want to see someone running around with all Solaris Chainguns on a bomber, firing constantly.. Too powerful, sorry.
