Oh man... I completely forgot about this, but I'm gunna have to post it...
One day, maybe two years ago, I was sitting around, watching skype messages pop up, and then suddenly I saw the Outcast emergency chat flash up...
"Tons of corsairs headed to Alpha. Get fighters"
This was nothing unusual, so I waited a bit, seeing if anyone else would hop on and deal with it... Ten minutes passed with silence in the chat...
"Where is everyone? We need support."
I logged on to see just how much chaos there was and found the corsairs sitting 12k from Malta. A mixed force of CR, IMG and Corsairs, inculding the old LT (hai Karo), and OPG... So many well known names and faces. Even dearest Enchy there in a praetorian bomber...
The outcast forces consisted of myself, Skoko, D56, Zavier and Ichtan in sabres as well as some random guy in a container transport, an armorless dessie (which I think was Thexare).
"We're screwed" I thought to myself as the corsair tide approached and started firing... "Go evasive" I yelled in group chat, and the lot of us started to dodge... Hard.
Skoko lagged out in the middle of this due to a thunderstorm. The brave dessie and container transport died in a matter of seconds, Ichtan tried to type something and got as far as saying "Joe we've go- damnit..."
So we're left with D56 (We miss you Davor, and all your blue-on-blue minekills) Zavier and myself, outside Malta dodging harder than I've dodged before or since, holding them off for just a little over an hour while outnumbered ten to one. Davor dodged from Malta to Ibiza and back again. Zavier ninja'd a kill on one CR guy who EK'd too long and ate and inferno and guns... One more CR guy drops to the same from me... and then we all three dock, missing parts of our ships, grinning and yelling about just how damned epic the whole situation was.
Probably one of the best memories I have of playing this game, and I can't believe I'd forgotten about it until just now.
There's something that used to get me going about the OC/Corsair war. It was fresh, exciting and happened on a huge scale. But more importantly than that, for the most part it was really good natured (aside from a few mishaps which turned into major arguments).
