And seeing that China's interests conflicts with everyone elses (look at Sudan/Dafur for instance) and the fact that several western governments are looking into the option of forming alliances outside of UN, things are just going to get hotter in Africa. A safer bet would be to just suck it up (like the EU is going to) and let Russia supply the energy. However, this doesnt solve the water deficiency problem.
Well, this is where China's over population helps. They will send millions of them to work in Africa and what happens after that, well...you figure it out. Oh, don't forget India.
