EDIT: And about the Kony-thing - who says the people in power now are saints? It's just so easily to relate to this campaign because it follows a western-style narrative and "puts a face on evil", when "evil" is in fact much more complex and difficult to fathom.

You miss the point. We have known about Kony and other African thugs for many, many years and so has the West, China and everyone else. Now suddenly Uganda has massive oil resources, over 2.5 billion barrels worth, now only is Kony a problem.

Also note, China works with African dictators, like Mugabe, whilst the West seems to remove them and replace them with their so called 'pro-democracy' leaders.
