Mendel stood looking at both the recruits who had entered his office at the same time.
He contemplated both of them a moment before flipping open a portfolio, "Vilen Helbrecht?" he asked, not really caring about the answer. He knew it anyway, he sifted through the dossier tossing reports out across the table. "My men have encountered you in the past, and while you may think your capable, they had a differing opinion... something to the effect of... you pilot your Odin like you are making love to a hippopotamus... While I am sure that's a feat of physical engineering... I am still not so impressed."
He reached for the gun, stopped at shrugged reaching for the packet of papers, "However your Brigadier General was kind enough to send me your performance assessments... and while they read like a two-year old's report card... stickey and lacking focus... I want to see what you can do with the application."
He threw it at Vilen Helbrecht. "Out, and don't come back till it is done!"
Turning his attention to the woman he sighed, "why are you hear and not making stroganoff for your husband on what is left of JiangXi? Your first duty as a Coalition woman is to re-population of the planet... if your that desperate to find a husband I have a few hundred men on this ship more than happy to oblige." He chuckled as he sat down. "Or are you actually here to prove you have a set and don't actually need a man at all?"
