The next mission was to be the Gallia reconnaissance one. The objective was to map all the systems we could get in. However, my ship was still being repaired at Java after the battle there so i have joined Junior Lt. Pieck as a co-pilot in his ship, so that he would concentrate on actual flying and i would do the report. Comrade Robert Miller had also joined us in this flight, Comrade Vargas has joined us later.
We have approached Languedoc jumphole in the Orkney system and found our way in. Mines on the entrance are easily avoidable, two Cryer trading/smuggling ships went there ahead of us showing us a clear path. In fact, minefield there was probably considerable stronger in the past, for now it can be breached by ship big enough moving through it without damage high enough to cripple it.
Proceeding with scanning bases and and lanes-gates network, we have encountered numerous wrecks of both Royal Navy and Council ships and bases. We have witnessed a few skirmishes while we were passing by, this war seems to be constant and never-ending. We have managed to scan many ships on the both sides and are in possession of great technical details on them now.
During our mission, we were hailed by the Council ships. They were very hospitable and showed us many places of interest, including the alternative route into Gallia via Omicrions (80 and Alpha). Their hospitality probably comes from the fact that they see us as a potential ally in their struggle. According to their information, Gallia has been planning the invasion for the very long time, sending the Junkers as spies ahead to gather information and copy the technology they didn't have. The jumpgates and the tradelanes were copied by them, the rest of the technology is said to be "home-grown", and yet, their bases look really close to ours. Council members said that Royal Navy has hundreds of battleships (that class of their ships is called "Valor") and they probably have more of them than some Sirian group has gunboats. While the GRN defense is really tight and they have a battleship guarding every jumpgate in their systems, i find this hard to believe.
While we were following them around, comrade Vargas who arrived later was moving behind us, staying out of detection range and mapping/scanning all the bases we were asked to keep off records. However, some kind of long range scanners used by Council revealed his presence and we told him to join us as a sign of trust.
One last thing to mention: we have encountered a really weird stellar formation of a few planets right next to each other. I still can't understand how could that be possible.
