Abseiling down a cliff-face with a rope without any sort of safety equipment or light to see what he was doing. Not exactly a fun-packed day for Miller. Oh, and it was raining. Really, for Miller it just wasn't his cup of tea. A cup of tea was his cup of tea, not making his way across a radiation-covered rock for some test.

The cliff-face was hard for his boots to grip, its surface constantly being drenched by the incoming rain. Miller's hands must have been drained of blood as they clenched for dear life to the rope.

Suddenly, a blinding light. He almost let go of the rope in an attempt to cover his eyes. He tried to adjust as quickly as he could, to see the source of the light. He stared past the shining, and saw - much to his relief - the Social Credit, illuminating the path for him. Or did they just want to watch him fall?

No, it was probably the former. Enrico Alvarez seemed like the helpful sort of chap, from when Miller had worked briefly with him during Scott's revolt. He brought his wrist computer/TAC to his face, and spoke words he decided would let them know who it was.

'Did you bring my dressing gown?'

He doubted they could hear him, but he could always hope. With the Social Credit illuminating the rock-face he was able to quicken his pace down to the bottom of the ravine. Until suddenly, a loud roaring could be heard over the rain, along with a man's screaming.

The crash of rubber and metal on more metal forced Miller to stop his descent and look. Some sort of jeep had landed on the Social Credit, and ridden its length before disembarking and landing on the floor of the ravine to continue its journey. The Social Credit spun wildly, obviously receiving some sort of damage from the impact. Its light moved away from Miller, and for a second illuminated the floor. Miller was thirty feet away now.

He decided not to take any chances, and began his descent as fast as he possibly could as he listened to the Social Credit gain altitude. He occasionally looked around to follow its course, which was now a descent. He heard it "land" in the distance, and decided that Alvarez would have landed near something prominent in the landscape. A house, or perhaps a supply cache.

Miller completed his descent and landed safely. His flash light aided in finding his pistol, which by some miracle had survived the fall by landing on a mattress. He wrestled with the rope for several minutes in an attempt to bring the launcher down, but it wouldn't budge. He'd have to leave it.

He sighed again. Seemed he'd been doing quite a lot of that recently. After securing his supplies and checking the damage to his backpack, the bullet from whoever it had been destroying one of his canteens, he drank from the other and filled it up again from the water purifier, then began trudging his way toward the Social Credit crash site.
