Miller felt as if a blanket had been wrapped around him, squeezing and flexing until it perfectly matched his shape. And then the blanket was removed, and he was standing in the same room he'd been in before. Except this time, distinct bootprints were visible on the floor and the unknown man was gone.

He ducked down behind a cabinet, unsure as to what had just happened. But there was no time to deliberate on what had happened to him. He needed to escape the hospital without being noticed.

His wrist computer began to beep. One of the tracking devices entering the range. He checked it, and saw the dot was only two hundred metres away from him. How had it reached such a close distance before his wrist device had alerted him?

A bandit bursting in broke his train of thought. He held a spiked two-handed hammer, ready to swing down and pummel Miller to death. He reached for his pistol, unlatched it from its holster and began to pull it out when a sharp stabbing returned to his hand. He instinctively clasped his hand, and forced himself to initiate a forward roll to avoid the slamming hammer. He tried moving his pistol to the firing position again, and ignoring the pain he pointed it at the bandit and shot him in the face.

Run, were the only words that came to mind now. No poems, no songs, just run. And he did run, back the way he had come, toward the door. He'd have to break through any opposition still remaining at the door now, but he knew he couldn't wait any longer. He'd have to reach the other dot and try to rally its support to help fight off the bandits.

The heavy doors, much to Miller's relief, were unguarded. He pushed open the heavy hospital doors, throwing a grenade behind him as he desperately sought cover. The bandits were en masse now, he knew they couldn't be far behind.

The doors shut, and were then pushed open again by the powerful shockwave created by the grenade in the small reception area. Some screams could be heard, meaning the grenade had killed a few of his pursuers, but that provided little comfort for him. There were five more replacing every one he killed.

He ducked behind an ATV - the same one from just over an hour ago - and aimed down the sights of his AK-74. His trigger finger would be an insufferable pain, but he'd just have to deal with it. If he wanted to survive, he'd have to deal with it.

The door burst open. Men began pouring out. They were gunned down, but not by Miller. He didn't care, just so long as whatever was shooting at them wouldn't start shooting at him.

Bandits poured out of the hospital like water finding a leak in a jug. Bullets continued flying, and Miller risked a glance behind him.

He gasped, surprised. The recruit moved forward, to crouch next to Miller behind the ATV. He could smell something on the new arrival's breath. Was that... vodka? He didn't have time to ask, because an unexpected surprise burst out of the hospital, crushing the bandits as if they were tiny insects. Some sort of power armour shielded the occupant from any damage the bandits could dish out.

Miller didn't want to take any chances with it. For all he knew it could come after him next. He climbed onto one of the bandit's ATVs and pressed the ignition button. The engine roared.

'Come on!' He shouted to the other man. The man climbed on behind him without complaint, it taking extra effort as he struggled for balance and control of his limbs. Miller sped away as soon as the man was on the vehicle, leaving behind the bandits as they were slaughtered by the mysterious figure.

The man, clinging to Miller as he began speeding through the streets, vomited over the side. 'The river,' he said once he'd cleared his mouth, 'we should go to the river.' Miller was about to inquire as to the reason, but then the man spoke again. 'Alexander Vorobiev, you can call me sascha, I believe we've met...'

'The voice is familar, yes, I believe we have met before. And shouldn't we move to Check Point Alpha?' In all honesty, Miller wanted to seek medical attention for his wound. He doubted he'd be able to travel much further without proper medical care. He told Vorobiev about his wound.

'Would you like some vodka? It'll make the wound hurt less.' Miller took a swig from the vodka bottle.
