The bar was quiet for the time. A poster on the wall advertised the evening's entertainment as a young man to perform so guitar licks and solos. Norman would tell anyone, "he's good enough to be able to do that on his own." Still, few people knew him.
The man walked in, a guitar case in his hand, and walked over to the bar, shaking Norman's hand.
"Well, Chris, good to see you again," Norman said, leaning back a bit, "and you shaved the beard and mustache."
He just nodded and grinned, "Yeah, got tired of it. Hey, I need to get set up. Um, just sodas for now."
With that, Chris went over and opened his case. As he took it out, some assistants brought in his gear. A couple of other guitars, ampliefiers and a switchboard.
As he tuned his guitars, string by string, he did so with a cigarette resting in a nearby ash tray in between puffs. He took his time, tuning each one like his life depended on it. As he did, the crowds started to increase. For him, it was time.
Once finished, he finished his smoke and strapped a guitar over his shoulder. From then on, he let his instrument do the talking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8q0Mb_uOG8
When he finished, he thanked the crowd that was still massing and applauding.
"Thank you," he said, "I am Chris DeGarmo for those who don't know. I'll try my best to keep you entertained tonight for, well, a little while. If you want to hear it and I know it, I'll play it."
