[color=#FFFFFF]David Smith is deep in conversation with someone over the neural net. He leans closer to the screen.
"Do we have a deal then?"
A hooded man on the screen nods.
"Good, you will only act on my explicit instruction - Once I give it. Otherwise there will be no payment."
David switches off the screen and his laptop pings a new item for his attention.
"Ah, Matt excellent. Forever the navy specialist - booking onto your shift early."
He heads down to the launch bay, and picks up his Eagle. It was a present given to him from the CEO of Interpsace in recognition of his work for the company. He wouldn't need it if his plans came to fruition, the entire universe would be opened up and he would stand at the forefront - holding the keys that would unlock humanities potiential.
"Launch code niner-alpha, priority clearance requested." "Standby, Pattern is full. You will be cleared to proceed when it's free." "I didn't ask for later, I asked for now dammit!" "Emergency situation, please standby." "What type of bloody emergency?!" "Terrorist attack, hang on.. yes.. OK Eagle 9A, you are cleared to launch."
David gunned the throttle and once he reached space, he saw the remains of a Xeno raid. David chuckled to himself, an entire squadron must have come here and left in pieces. They must not have realised that the Pacific was in orbit. They wouldn't have been that stupid surely?
Docking down on Manhattan, he headed from the civilian landing zone to the transport zone. There he headed to the enquires desk and asked which transport Matt was heading onto. After gaining the directions, he headed to the waiting area. There he was, sitting waiting patiently - His bag slung over the seat next to him. David approached and Matt looked up, confused and startled.
"Dad? Whit tha' hell are ye daeing here?!" "I heard on the grapevine you were on Manhattan! I'm only up in orbit son, say - You needing a lift?" "I'm already booked on this transport tae tha' Missouri, I've got a new guardian which is finally being issued tae me." "Heh, dunno why you don't just stay on tha' Valiant my boy. Look, your transports not for another hour. Then you got another 20mins flight time if the lanes are clear. You could be on the Missouri in half that time if you take the lift." "Ach, fine." "Perfect"
David walked out to his Eagle, and he launched and took up a high orbit. He set the autopilot for the Missouri. He had 20 minutes with his son, alone and with no-where to go. Now he will see reason, he hoped.
