Another good day for the legion. I received a high priority call from the XO, something about a Hacker gunship causing troubles, so jumped into my Sabre to assist. It's quite a haul from Ouray to California, when you need to avoid the crawling swarms of navy boys in New York, and by the time I got to the Cali-NY gate the Hacker GS had given Voss the slip. But there in its' place was a navy gunboat and Assault Carrier. I was joined shortly thereafter by Josh Quino, and after a short exchange, Voss, Quino and myself engaged the gunboat, hoping to put it out of action before the Carrier could call in reinforcements.
He was a tricky bastard, hugging close to the Carrier, but we did well in wearing it down. The best was yet to come, however. Voss had contacted Daniels aboard the Pandion, who made full speed through New York, hoping to jump into the fight without being spotted. The gunboat had stopped dodging, hiding under the skirts of the Carrier, when the Pandion jumped through the gate. Caught completely by surprise, the stationary gunboat didn't stand a chance as Daniels unleashed the full firepower of the Pandion upon it, and it vapourised in seconds. Then came the simple job of taking down the Carrier, which was achieved in short order, especially with the arrival of PFC Dale in his bomber.
Congratulating ourselves on a job well done, we headed the long route back to Ouray, Daniels opting to attempt to cut back through New York. As we jumped from Ontario to Colorado, we got the call we'd been worrying about. Several navy vessels were on the tail of the Pandion. We rushed to Ouray to restock, as Daniels brought the Pandion through the jump hole. Four navy vessels engaged as soon as the Pandion got close to Ouray. The single bomber was targetted as the primary threat to the already damaged Pandion.
The gunners aboard the Pandion were able to get the killing shot on the bomber, while Voss took out one of the fighters. The remaining two navy vessels fled.
Wainwright out.
All the old knives, that have rusted in my back, I shall drive deep into yours.
