I support it as a valid tactic. That is because a mastodon flies just as fast as a scimitar in a straight line, doesn't make much sense.
Supposedly, in .86, light fighters get a boost. In that case I wouldn't support the tactic anymore.
Edit: saw many saying stuff like pirates accepting that the trade fled, and pride an stuff. Tell me what's fair in this: a trader arrives, I say a few lines, he completely ignores and just keeps shift+w'ing. Server is so goddam full cd's can't hit ships the size of a planet, so he engages cruise. He says he doesn't care if I catch him after all, he just flies 500k in the middle of nowhere and lets me kill him ( I never actually followed, I pirate for rp. If they don't want to, I let them go. But people do). He does this just to screw with me, and I can't do anything because my ultra light fighter isn't faster than his huge piece of brick loaded with bricks.
