Trying to make a dynamic economy implies that things go up and down. Nerfing trade runs in an RP sense means that a commodity loses value or gets less demand.
In a real economy, other commodities would become more valuable to take up the slack. At the same time as commodities losing value (deflation), ships and space are gaining value (inflation). Therefore, its harder to make money, and you have to have more of it before you can buy anything.
This is to make the game harder. More interesting? I disagree. It simply means traders will have to go back and forth more times to get the money they want. The game gets more repetitive for them. It doesn't enhance the game for pirates, as they often tax per trader, not per trader per run.
Nerfing Cambridge/Corfu would be fine, if they replaced it with another route that was as challenging and as profitable. I doubt they will.
Also, I expect that Tau-31 will remain un-nerfed. Why? Tau-31 is within the "Outcast" sphere of influence, whereas Cambridge-Corfu is within the Corsair sphere of influence. Its just another one of the admins' strategies to spoil gameplay for anyone carrying a Corsair tag, in order to reduce the numbers doing so.
I would continue my rant, raising issues such as the size of clans that should be small in an RP sense, and how many ships that would have benefited us where excluded from the mod, but I wont, as i'm almost certain anything I say will be ignored.
