A minor setback hit the Division recently. Thankfully there were no causalities, and this little accident can not stop, only delay us in our researches. Here are the details.
Le Grande Stockage Fromage 17éme Laboratoire on Deck 8 is closed after an explosion occured on 28éme Juin. Apart from Docteur Beaumont and Monsieur LeClerc nobody were injured, and they got only a few light scars. They have already left the infirmary since then. This was the laboratory in which we were experimenting with the weird organ from the Beta-1 sample. The latest entry records indicate that the explosion happened during acidic tests. The starter ones were the weaker, organic acids, which didn't cause any change. Neither would have the hydrogene-chloride caused any, if the change in pH wouldn't been so drastic. The quick drop in pH caused some of the proteins to change their forms, which probably led to other proteins being exposed to the acid, thus reacting with it resulting in the explosion. This is however a vague guess and is based on the latest recovered records. The analysis on the log files is still going on and we may correct our statement about the matter if it deemed to be neccessary. 17éme Laboratoire will not be opened until the end of the next week. Architects and engineers were called from Planet Toulouse to inspect any structural change and restrict more areas of the station if deemed neccessary for safety reasons.
Natural solar panel All of the skin parts have been tested and compared to eachother. This chain of experiments resulted in the conclusion that they have the same structure, but vary in thickness. This can be related to the size of the original K'Hara probably. An other insteresting discovery is that while we found no sign of the cloaking tissue layer, we found the one which might be the feeding one. This specific tissue layer have been discovered during photovoltaic tests, and showed signs of transforming photonic energy into electric. The tissue itself bears resemblance to both the man-made solar panels and to the photosynthetizing plants, however differs from both as well. This might be a middle piece of the chain. This may be not in direct relations to our current project, but may prove to be a tool of advancement on an other field of researches. For now I have no intentions to close works with this tissue layer.
Brains As our researches with the K'Hara skins did not prove efficent yet, we will focus on the neurocardial organs, or more commonly, "Brains". This might not sound as a problem as we have plenty of samples granted by the Cerberus. But then there comes the fact that they are not identical. Not only differing in sizes, they are differing in formations of neural and cardiac cortexes as well, every of them is as unique as possible. The only few common traits among them is that they share the same triangular simmetry along their main axis, and that the neural cortexes are mostly more or bigger than the cardiac ones. This somewhat helped us to categorize them by either having trois or sex normal sized, rarely neuf small pair of cardiac chambers, or by the total size of the neural part compared to the cardiac one. Sorting them out one by one is still going on and will probably be finished during the middle of next week.
As you see, mes amis, little accidents always happen if we wander to unknown fields, let it be the depth of space or knowledge itself. This must not make us afraid to bring light to the darkness and reveal the secrets of the Slomon K'Hara.
