To end suffering

Memories of childhood flashed through Enriqueta's mind. She remembered how her family conducted surgical operations to extract organs from prisoners, to be later sold in the black market.

'Come on, it's ok. He won't feel anything'
a 15 years old Enriqueta looked at the prisoner. Tied to the surgical bed, sleeping, completely unaware of what was about to happen.
His dad handled her a decorated scalpel.

'This is made of Obsidian, from the Arenal volcano here, at Crete. This will cut through meat like a knife cuts butter'

Enriqueta grabbed the scalpel and began cutting the heart. The subject started shaking. Enriqueta could feel a pain, deep inside her, like a bit o0f her soul being ripped.

'Agh... This low quality Anesthesia' His dad shouted. He grabbed a big syringe and injected the subject another dose.

Enriqueta cut through each of the arteries and veins, finally releasing the heart of the subject. His dad carefully grabbed it and put it in Enriqueta's hands. Her hands were shaking, but for some reason there was something soothing in it. It was warm, it was relieving, the subject's suffering was over and Enriqueta no longer felt his pain, she thought that all was good, she was ending people's suffering. After staring at the heart for a few seconds, she let go a hideous smile...

'Well? are you going to land?' A launchpad operator said over the inter-comm.
'Sure Jose, I was... Thinking...' Enriqueta replied.
'It's good to see you here, you made a good decision' Jose replied and smiled at her.

She landed, several other launchpads were used by Praetorians, others were being used by borderworlds fighters.
Enriqueta walked through a trail with black rocks, and white rocks bordering it. She wasn't using her usual combat suit, but a full-body black dress. She walked with her head slightly down as usual, and her eyes staring at infinity.
After a few minutes of walking there it was, the Shaulanca church. Rising high through a dense fog, in the middle of a dark forest.
Enriqueta walked inside, she stopped and took a look at the main hall, so empty and dead... So cold... But it felt familiar to Enriqueta, something in that room made her feel at home...
A man was standing nearby, he nodded and walked away. Enriqueta followed him.
Screams were heard far. Something made her feel weak, she felt like she was about to faint and couldn't stand.

'Please don't do this!' A man screamed in horror.
'It's ok my love' Enriqueta replied with a calm voice.
'I didn't mean to do it, I'm sorry!' He shouted.
'How do you feel, when you remember cheating on me?' Enriqueta said, again with a calm voice
'I feel terrible. I swear. I feel like... A pain, deep in my heart...Please' The man replied.
'Well that's bad. You are suffering... I will finish with your suffering...' Enriqueta replied angered. She grabbed an old axe, it was more a relic than a real weapon. She lifted it and struck with all the violence she could gather from her soul...

'Are you ok?' The man who was escorting her to the initiation chamber asked, holding her arm
'I... Yes...No problem' Enriqueta replied.

The man made a hand sign pointing to a door. Enriqueta walked in.

'Long trip?' Another man replied. He was shrouded by a shadow and Enriqueta could only hear him.
'Ye...Yeah...' She replied a bit nervous, looking around trying to find the man, but he couldn't be seen.
'Well go ahead, sign your oath of faith as you promised us back at Theta'
Enriqueta signed the scroll, it looked old, certainly not natural and it really didn't belong to this age of holographic projections and digital datapads. She then grabbed a small pocket knife and made a long slight cut through her hand, she closed her hand with strenght and a few drops slipped through and splashed on the torn old-looking paper.
The tiny drops were absorbed into the paper like a sponge and were spread almost unnaturally across it. Enriqueta grabbed a black cloth and wrapped her hand.

'Shaulanca 10' She read from the scroll in a loud voice while smiling, but there was no response. She looked around once again hoping to see the man behind the shadows, but no one would show up.
Enriqueta left the scroll there and walked out quickly, with her head down and a slight smile.
