Name: Gautier Roch Alias: “The Director” Gender: Male Born: June 26, 691 AGS Age: 42 standard years
Background:
The High Director of the Gallic Metal Service, simply known as “The Director”, Gautier Roch has had a long history with the company. After attending the College of Sciences on New Paris, he landed a spot in the Mining Division at the age of 18 standard years. Roch worked under Henri Fournier doing ore extraction in the fields of Burgundy. Competent at the job, the young miner did his work and earned his pay. After two years behind the yoke, Roch was promoted to the position of one of many field leaders, calling the shots for a small mining party and its associated transports. After several more years, Roch was given a Materials Management position, overseeing the production facilities in the Dauphine System. (719 AGS)
In 724 AGS, Roch was promoted to Director of Borderworld Operations because of outstanding performance in the Dauphine operations, finding new sources of revenue and leading projects developing more effective communications systems for use by teams in the field. The new D-Ops for the Borderworlds held that position for another nine years before he was finally promoted to the position of High Director in a 6-1 vote by the Executive Board and recommendation from his outgoing predecessor.
When the Gallic Borderworlds were sealed from the Core and Gallia announced itself to the rest of Sirius proper, Roch’s first project was to send scouting parties to the Taus. When these parties returned with news of copious amounts of Beryllium and Niobium ore right outside their doorstep, Roch presented a plan to the Executive Board to cut a deal with the Council in order to gain passage through Languedoc. The details of this deal are largely unknown, but what resulted is the Council making a public announcement regarding their approving the GMS’ traffic as a way to “ensure the masses that we mean well”. Internally, GMS adopted an anonymity policy in order to protect its employees and families from those who would seek to upset this balance.
At present, Roch is working with the newly-formed External Operations sector to expand even further into Bretonia and Kusari. The Director owns a 25% share of the corporation and uses his influential standing and technical knowledge to both increase GMS’ profit potential and ensure the safety of its employees.
