1) What is the "Eristic Principle"?
The Eristic Princible and Aneristic Principle are philosophical notions appropriated from Buddhism by the Discordians, and adapted to their own ends. The basic idea is that the universe's natural state is Chaos, and that any apparent Order is only perceived due to the pre-existing Reality tunnel of the perceiver. (In short, "believing is seeing".)

Flaxscrip was first introduced into Discordian groups by the mysterious
Malaclypse the Younger, K.S.C., in 1968. Hempscrip followed the year
after, issued by Dr. Mordecai Malignatus, K.N.S. (In the novel, taking
one of our few liberties with historical truth, we move these coinages
backward in time and attribute hempscrip to the Justified Ancients of
Mummu.)
