Shalom and all that jazz. I know I did a report earlier already but the night was long and other stuff happened.
'Bout an hour or so ago our glorious comrade Major Hessler felt like acquiring more funds for la revolucion. In other words he went out to extort people, and I joined in out of boredom. Well okay, he lost money to both me and the barmaid I mentioned earlier so I guess there was some personal motivation involved. By the time I launched and headed off to meet up with Hessler, at the time commanding the Leopard II, he was busily looking for a Daumann Miner somewhere in Omega-11. I joined the search but luck wasn't on our side and so we ended up looking for other cash donors.
We did notice a lot of traffic going towards New Berlin and Hessler drove the Leo back to Freital, opting to take the Messerschmitt out for a spin instead. While I was scouting out the lanes in Stuttgart I found an independent Silver Ore hauler coming from Omega-7 and moving towards Berlin. I followed quietly, not raising any unnecessary attention while relaying its movements to Major Hessler who prepared an ambush in New Berlin at the Bonn lane. We were successful and the amigo proved himself to be rather friendly to our cause, donating a whole five Million credits without me even blowing my cover. That was good and well, but now to the bad part.
What you see in that shot is a particular Freelancer Gunboat, Ahoudori-class, heavily armored and armed to the teeth. It appeared moments after the aforementioned hauler passed on. Hessler didn't like the warning from the captain and we were engaged.
The fight wasn't anything that fancy and the biggest issue were the missiles the thing was spitting out rapid-fire as if it had an entire armory's worth of ammunition in the magazines. Short and sweet, it was going to be a drawn-out fight with us both going evasive, me trying to get the Gunboat's attention so Hessler would have clear shots with the Messer's Supernova. Everything would've gone well, even though it might've taken a long while, 'cause we were managing pretty good. Some Ion here and there ended up making some of the Major's shots miss, but so far that wasn't an issue.
That green brick you can see there was one. Soon as it showed up we were outmatched and outgunned, the brick's suppressive fire posing a huge problem to us both in conjunction with the Vigilance's relentless missile fire. Not to mention the ever-present threat of its quad-Battlerazor array. Hessler called for reinforecements, but noone other than our comrade Lukas Fauler managed to show up in time. We tried fighting on, but even with two Fighters as support the Messerscmitt was no match for the two Gunboats. We managed pretty good regardless, but once the Messer's Supernova Cannon was a goner thanks to all the explosives Hessler called a retreat.
All his dodging didn't save him from being shot down however, though the enemy's focus on him let Fauler get away easily. I kept on trying to raise support, but with noone nearby I buzzed off, dodging fire for a while 'til the Gunboats gave up on the chase. On another note, my dear amigo Hessler's been taken to safety by Fauler, though I don't think he's going to be in the mood to play poker anytime soon.
