Remnants and Fallout

'Malkolaiv, this is Lex Talionis. Requesting docking clearance.' Miller had rushed away from Sevastopol, despite doctors literally blocking his way to his Revolution, to report to Malkolaiv. He was required for some sort of mission.

'Commissar-Captain Miller, this is Malkolaiv. You are cleared to dock at port three. You are to report to an escort of two marines immediately.'

'Roger Malkolaiv, moving to port three now. Lex Talionis out.' He was still adjusting to his new call sign, gifted to him by the Premier for destroying a Corsair Legate alone in his Insurgent. He approached the research station. He always observed it and Odessa when moving between points in Omega-52, but rarely visited the station itself. So already the day was something different.

He surrendered his ship flight controls to Malkolaiv, which brought him in slowly into the port. He had been given priority docking clearance ahead of all normal traffic, which surprised him. Somebody wanted him on Malkolaiv quickly.

His ship was rushed into the hangar, deckhands rushing in to detach the cockpit hatch latches. There was a hiss as gases from the hangar and his cockpit intermingled, then silence. He spotted his escort and proceeded to the marines, his cane tapping the deck softly. Until his leg fully recovered from his trial on JiangXi, it was to serve as a walking stick.

He was led through the station, after five minutes of walking reaching the destination. A man stood waiting, a set of neatly folded clothes cradled in his arms like a child.

'Commissar-Captain, to spare you hearing the order in a shout, you shall need to change into these. And leave all equipment here.' Miller didn't hesitate. He had no problems with changing in front of the marines, and the clothes looked far better than the blue flight suit he wore.

He proceeded to change quickly into the new uniform, which was surprisingly comfortable. It almost felt like a specially tailored for his body.

'May I keep my walking stick?' He inquired to the man who now took his flight suit and the equipment he had on him at the time. He responded with a nod, and Miller proceeded forward.

The soft pang of his cane suddenly became a dull thud, and he realised that he'd boarded a ship. It was old, the corridors archaic and utilitarian. The marines led him to the living quarters, where they bowed slightly and left him to stare into the cabins without a clue what he was doing there.

He'd been assigned to command Sevastopol mere days ago. Then he finds himself on this ancient ship. The Coalition was throwing him around like a kitten with a ball of string. He was only along for the ride; the Coalition was making him its bitch. He chuckled at the thought, and walked toward a familiar face: Chun Ki Ling.
