Subject's History

Early Life: Jace Riggs was originally born on New London and lived a privileged life in a comfortable middle-class home. His father, Jason Riggs, was a pilot for Border World Exports. His mother, Faye, stayed at home and took care of him, and his two sisters Shelly and Merideth.

Due to the long absences of Jason caused by his job, his and Faye's marriage began to collapse, and by the time Jace was 16 his parents divorced. Faye took custody of the children and Jason continued back to his job, later falling into a deep depression and committing suicide in his transport ship somewhere in Omega-7.

Faye, now in custody of the three children decided to move to Liberty Space and took the family to Planet Los Angeles where living was somewhat affordable to her. Faye entered into the planet-side work force, and continued to scrape together a living. It was during this time that Jace decided to follow in his fathers footsteps and seek his place in the skies as a pilot. When he turned 18 he joined the LPI's academy on Planet Manhattan. By 19 he had graduated from advanced flight manuevers school and became a ranking member of LPI's force. When Jace turned 20 he graduated to Officer. It was during this time, he witnessed two of his fellow classmates and close friends die during a pirate attack while they were escorting tradesmen through California. The group was outnumbered and reinforcements, only a system away, seemed to take their time to reach them. By the time they arrived, only Jace and one trademan remained, and the maurauding pirates had already fled, content with all they had taken.

Jace spiraled into a deep depression during this time and sought comfort in alcohol whenever he was off-duty. At points, he would barely sober up enough to make his next shift. This put a strain on any relationships he had, and unsurprisingly Jace's girlfriend did not stay with him for much longer. These deaths, coupled with the rampant corruption in the LPI and their allies the Liberty Navy soured Jace for anything to do with the lawful authority. By the age of 21 Jace left the force and quickly lost all source of income that he, and especially his struggling mother on Los Angeles depended on. In return, Faye dis-owned her son, and rejected him and swore never to offer assistance.

Recent Events:Struggling with his rampant depression, lack of credits and bouts of alcoholism, Jace soon found himself on the opposite side of the law, and by the time he was 23 he had already sought a home on Rochester Base in the New York system. The Junkers it seemed, aside from the Zoners, were the only folks that would allow a former lawman amongst them. At Rochester he did odd jobs, usually for enough credits to get drinks at the bar. It was one night at the bar that Jace finally had a break. A former Junker smuggler whom Jace had had run ins with as an officer was going on about returning to his illegitimate shipping habits. Jace couldn't help but overhear the man, and he found himself desperately wanting to return to space. He missed piloting.

Jace approached the Junker, who recognized him, and the two nearly got into a fist fight. After some reassurances that he had left the law and wanted nothing more to do with it, Jace was able to coax the Junker into a more elaborate discussion on smuggling. As the men drank and talked, Jace began to formulate an idea. He too would try his hand at smuggling. Time spent on Rochester had allowed stories of other smugglers' successes reach him. His money problems would be a thing of the past, if he could get a decent start at it. As the Junker continued his story, Jace interrupted him with a tantalizing proposition. He would give the smuggler information on the LPI's patrol routes in return for a ship that he too could use for smuggling. It was the perfect way for him to get back at Liberty for letting his friends die.

The Junker agreed, and so happened to have the husk of an old Combat Service Vehicle in his possession. He had started putting the vessel together from debris he had gathered between contraband runs. With Jace's help, the Junker promised, they could rebuild the little freighter and make her space worthy again. As soon as the ship was outfitted and ready, it was Jace's.
