The Provost Marshal's office had been thoroughly steam cleaned fifty times since its rediscovery, and still Vicenta Gonzalez could smell decay, old man, booze and musty carpet in the air. Her late lamented predecessor Yoris Beltsin had apparently drunk himself quite literally to death in here, behind a corridor clogged with old memos, and it was only by some incredible fluke that the office had been uncovered following the bomb blast in the Politburo chamber.

She'd been quite busy since the Order's betrayal, rounding up spies and hurling them into gulags. But now there was a lull, and she'd found herself with little to do.

Xiaobei had tried to explain to her about his mission, and had gotten as far as "employ tachyonic proton reversal to move slightly perpendicular to the Q axis in 5-dimensional space" before her eyes had glazed over and he'd stormed out of the room in a huff. So much for that mission, whatever it was.

Oh... now here was something.

A report amongst Vicenta's huge in-pile. Racketeering and extortion in a city on Volgograd. Hmmm...

"Docking bay, this is Provost Marshal Gonzalez. Prep the Akula for launch."
