Remnants and Fallout

Ling saw the carnage that was occurring as Holmes fell further back until he was right at his position. Alliance flashbangs were thrown around the corner.

"Flash! Down!"

Ling and Holmes and a few other men managed to get their heads down, the rest of the squad were too slow.

"Argh.. continuous fire! Stagger your reloading!"

Ling and Holmes held back from firing for a few moments while the remaining men shot back at the source of the flashbangs. Smoke whirled around the corridor, machine gun fire echoed from wall to wall and the dying screams of Coalition and Alliance soldier alike penetrated the decks of the Sleeper ship. Two more of Ling's squad fell. They could hold on no longer.

"Dammit! Fire in the hole!"

Ling blew the charges. They now had access to main engineering. Of course, Rhade was supposed to have secured the Command Centre by now. Whether he had or not, Ling did not know - the shouts and screams down his TAC-COM said otherwise. If Rhade had got the Command Centre, he could simply lock down the secondary blast doors - effectively sealing Ling and his team in. If not - well at least Ling's squad had some more corridors to fall back along and consoles to duck behind.

"Move move move!"

Ling fired at the silhouettes in the smoke cloud and counted his men back.. Six?! He had three times that number to begin with. He grabbed what ammo he could and threw two frags down the corridor as he did so. He flung himself down as the explosions let rip and crouched and ran past the now defunct steel doors.

"Dammit Rhade!"
