While researching a wormhole in the Hudson System, Julia Scroll's ship was boarded by a psychotic serial rapist. He was an expert at his terrible craft, and especially cruel. After jamming all communications, he easily overpowered his victim, and assaulted her repeatedly. Quickly becoming bored, he pulled out his side arm, and shot her in the head. Once the pirate left the system, and Julia had not returned, her assistant, RC-Md. (Recon Cybernetic medical device) powered up from its alcove on Cold Bay Station.

RC-md remotely piloted the small vessel back to the still under-construction Cold Bay Depot. As construction drones worked around It, RC-md landed the vessel inside the 'hanger' part of which was still exposed to the vacuum of space.

What happened next is not quite understood by the staff of Planetform Inc. But upon arrival to their newly constructed station they were greeted by a floating medical robot, and by a male-adult. He called himself Justin Scroll, and tried explaining the events that transpired over the previous months.
It seems that RC-md turned its creator's ship into growth acceleration chamber. Once It put the clinically deceased child carrier in the chamber, It was able to not only grow a human from embryo to adult in less than a year, but also able to modify the child's brain to allow for speech, motor control, and basic common sense. Planetform Inc researchers are still studying the robot and the chamber. They believe that RC-md was able to 'copy' key parts of the mother's memory to allow for such quick cognitive developments.
More would like to be known about Justin Scroll, but he vanished shortly after the employee transport left the station. It is believe that he hid aboard.
