A visit to the good doctor

When she arrived, a large, heavily armed warrior flung the door open.

Once he noticed the TAZ uniform, he lowered his weapon, "My apologies, Miss. Doc increased the security and upgraded the level of it." Concordia would notice that there were indeed extra security peronnel of this kind around. He then admitted her into the Estate. It was huge. The guard then escorted her to a door where he pressed the com device next to the door.
"Ambassador, the young lady you requested is here," the guard bellowed.
"Thank you, Mr. Grok," was the reply, "you may let her in."
The guard opened the door, nodded to Concordia, and walked back to his post.

The room was nothing she had ever seen. It was of a world past, of another lifetime, another era. In the far corner was a baby grand piano. A couple of large bookshelfs stood against the wall and in front of an old style fire place was a large table with a sofa. Also in the room were some recliners. On the wall and the bookshelf were pictures, pictures of a time past. Doc stood with some lawmen in old black and white pictures amongst some others.

Doc himself was standing with his back to Concordia as she entered in his robes, packing a bag. By the piano were the bags he had already packed. One personal bag and the rest were medical. He then turned to face Concordia. His face was straight and his mood somber. He stood still for a moment as he sighed. He took a couple of steps towards Concordia. He was greatful to her and his somberness showed it.

"Concordia," he said softly, "I thank you. Thank you for doing what you did today. You saved me and the lives aboard the Ark." He paused a moment as he placed his hands softly on her shoulders, "I know that others had a part in it and I promise that I'll speak with them too but...."
He again paused and took a breath, trying to smile even if weakly, "when I hear that one of my own is upset, one of my own cries for taking her first life, well, I want to help her before I help someone else. I need no medicine or surgical procedure to fix it."
He then looked into her eyes, seeing the pain she still felt. Gently and slowly, he wrapped his arms around her and held her.
"No amount of medicine cures what this does," he said softly, "thank you. Thank you very much."
"I remember my first kill. I felt much the same. I hope you never find killing easy as I did for a long time," he continued, "it's a feeling I don't miss."
He then went silent, only saying in a whisper, "Let it out. Cry on me if you must."
